EHA Premier League: North and South Resumes with Thrilling Encounters 

In a triumphant return to action, the stalwarts of England Handball took to the court this weekend after a hiatus prompted by international matches. The revival of the Premier Handball League North and South, complemented by captivating encounters in the regional leagues, unfolded with a series of closely contested games that captivated fans across the league. 

Premier League North Men: NEM Hawks Extend Dominance 

In the men’s category, NEM Hawks showcased their dominance against Liverpool, securing a resounding 34-23 victory. This triumph sustains NEM Hawks’ undefeated streak, solidifying their position at the top of the table. NEM Hawks closely trail Nottingham at the top of the table, with an extra game in hand and only one-point separating the two.  
 
Nottingham also exhibited dominance, defeating Birmingham Bisons with a commanding 42-27 win. Meanwhile, Loughborough and Manchester Trafford engaged in a nail-biting encounter, with the latter narrowly emerging victorious with a final score of 23-24. 

Premier League North Women: Loughborough Continues Strong Form, NEM Hawks Triumph Over Liverpool 

In the women’s category, Loughborough University maintained their strong form, securing a comfortable victory over Trafford. NEM Hawks women’s team engaged in a closely contested battle against Liverpool, ultimately triumphing with a hard-fought 24-22 win. This victory places NEM Hawks at the top of the table, intensifying the chase to catch Loughborough University, one of four teams in the PHL maintaining an undefeated run going into 2024. 

Premier League South Men: Islington Impresses, London GD Extends Unbeaten Streak 

Islington, the newcomers, displayed a spirited performance against Olympia, narrowly losing 26-25 in a top-of-the-table clash that could significantly impact the final four standings. Meanwhile, London GD mirrored the success of NEM Hawks by extending their undefeated streak to six games, overpowering Carshalton Titans with a commanding performance. 

Premier League South Women: West London Eagles Soar, Close Battle at the Top 

In the women’s category, West London Eagles, the 2023 women’s cup winners, continued their stellar performances in a double clash against Chelsea. Despite currently occupying the third position, West London Eagles, with two games in hand, are poised to challenge table-toppers Olympia, closely followed by London GD. The rivalry among the top three teams in the south promises a nail-biting finish as the points draw closer, determining the Final-4 positions. 

The weekend’s Premier Handball League matches provided fans with a spectacle of excitement and intense competition. NEM Hawks and London GD emerge as formidable forces in their respective divisions for the Men, setting the stage for an exhilarating continuation of the season. The battle for the top spots is poised to be fierce, with every match contributing to the unfolding drama in the captivating world of handball.
