England Handball launches new U15 County Competition following U13s success

England Handball has announced the launch of a brand-new county competition for the under 15s category, following the huge success of its U13 edition last year.

The Association is now taking expressions of interest from individuals who would like to coach their county in this year’s tournament in both the U13s and U15s categories.

The U13 County Competition will be a similar format to last year, when 23 teams entered, with regional qualifiers leading to a National Final.

The U15 tournament will be a standalone competition – taking place on a single day at Derby Arena on April 14.

Matt Durber, Club and Competitions Officer at England Handball, said: “We’re delighted to grow our county competitions offering following a brilliant response to last year’s success.

“These tournaments are superb in how they allow the spotlight to shine on the best young talents from around the counties, and we expect this season to be the biggest and best yet.

“We’re now calling for teams to come forward and submit their entries for both our U13 and U15 competitions – and can’t wait to see what’s in store for us this year.”

In terms of the U13 County Competition, the regional rounds are currently scheduled as follows:

North: March 16 at Oldham

Midlands: March 9 at Sutton Bonington

South East: March 9 at Gunnersbury

South West: March 9 at Avonbourne College

The national final will take place at the University of Gloucestershire on April 28.

Registrations for both new competitions will open in December, but England Handball are calling for teams to fill in an Expression of Interest form in advance.
