England Handball’s youth league programme for the 2023-24 season is well underway, with exciting matches having already taken place – and plenty more to come.
The 2023/24 season began on Saturday, October 28 at Derby Arena, with U19 teams including Shropshire, Stroud, Poole Phoenix, Trafford, Loughborough and Nottingham taking to the court. The second round took place on December 3.
This year sees both Boys’ and Girls’ teams competing at U19 National League level, with seven teams entered into each category.
Following the first two weekends of matches, Nottingham are top of the Boys’ League table, having won four games from four. In the Girls’ League, Loughborough and Shropshire sit joint top – also with four wins each.
Each league will involve two rounds of fixtures between all teams between October and May, with the top two from each progressing to the National Finals.
Elsewhere, teams in the U16 and U14 National Leagues are preparing for the start of the season in January, with teams having already submitted their expressions of interest.

“The start of this season certainly didn’t disappoint, and the talent on show in Derby at the weekend for the start of the Under 19s was excellent.
“It looks set to be a hotly contested, exciting season – and we’d like to wish the best luck to all teams.”
