University handball teams are being urged to register for this season’s BUCS Handball Championships, with applications now open for a limited time.
Welcoming universities from across the UK, registrations for the 2023/24 season opened on Tuesday, October 24 and are set to close on Thursday, November 9.
In association with England Handball, this year will see the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) competition running in a new, three-phase system, returning to the models run between 2013 and 2016.
The format will be divided into two levels, National Cup and Trophy, with university second teams not eligible to compete in the National Cup.
The registered teams will initially play in regional groups – South England, North England, Midlands and Scotland, with the winners advancing to the National finals in both Cup and Trophy.
The final stage is set to take place over the weekend of March 9 and 10 at Derby Arena.
John Pearce, National Events and Media Manager at England Handball, said: “The BUCS Handball Championships are one of the highlights of the calendar year for us, with an exciting array of up and coming talent on show.
“Everyone at England Handball is looking forward to yet another hugely exciting year as we return to a format requested by teams.
“Registrations are now open for a limited time, so get yours submitted as soon as you can.”
To enter, teams need to register with BUCS via their online system. All players will also need to be registered with England Handball on the Gameday system available on our website.
