Close Encounters and Great Goals as EHA Premier League Final 4 Gets off to a Flying Start

England Handball Association’s Premier League Final 4 has got off to an exciting start featuring fierce battles, great goals, and late flourishes.

Round one of the mini league, which will decide the ultimate winners of the Men’s and Women’s competitions, took place at the weekend. It saw victories for NEM Hawks Men and West London Eagles Women, as well as both Olympia teams.

On Saturday, West London Eagles beat NEM Hawks 32-16 in the Women’s league, before Olympia narrowly saw off Loughborough, winning 31-28.

Then, in the Men’s league on Sunday, a fiery match ended with Olympia beating Nottingham 30-22, but leaving it late to edge ahead in the final 10 minutes. Last season’s champions NEM Hawks then beat West London Eagles 34-26, despite a spirited defence from the London side.

John Pearce, National Events and Media Manager for England Handball Association, said: “What a brilliant start to this year’s Final 4, the culmination of an exciting season featuring so much great handball from so many teams.

“Some of the country’s best handballing talent was on show this weekend, and I’m delighted to say they didn’t disappoint.

“Good luck to all our Final 4 teams for the remainder of the competition.”

Round two of the Final 4 takes place on April 16, before the final round of matches on April 22, when our National Champions will be crowned.
