Ricardo Vasconcelos

Director of Handball

Ricardo joined EHA in 2013 and has since worked in multiple roles across all departments. Ricardo is also the Great-Britain Head Coach and an EHF Expert.As Head of Performance, Ricardo is responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation and review of the England Talent Pathway including regional and national activities.

Guillaume Eprinchard

Handball Development Officer

Guillaume joined England Handball in November 2022 as Club and Competitions Officer overseeing the successful organisation and growth of the EHA’s annual programme of school and university competitions.

Alongside supporting selected handball clubs, working in partnership with wider partners and stakeholders to provide high quality handball participation opportunities. Passionate about all things handball, outside the EHA Guillaume chairs a club in Nottingham where he also plays and coaches.

Between handball seasons, Guillaume is a keen flag football player and the Southern French Alps are his happy place.

Matt Durber

National Manager Programme Delivery

Matt has been working within Handball for 10 years, including involvement in club Handball as well as working for England Handball in the competitions team and performance pathway.

In 2020, Matt was appointed Head Coach for the Great Britain Women’s U17s team and continues to lead the programme, with close links to the England Handball National Academy and Futures programmes.

Joao Castro

EPA – Performance Coach

João joined England Handball in the autumn of 2020, having 10 years of experience as a professional coach working in top European clubs, in Portugal and Spain, National Teams, Women’s Teams and Youth Teams. Experienced in developing performance programs for young athletes, reaching top level as handball players, and also winning several titles in Youth and Senior Teams.


As Performance Coach, João has the responsibility to lead the Elite Performance Academy based at Loughborough College, alongside supporting the different Performance Pathway programmes and mentoring the coaches that worked on those activities.

Chris Towler

Coaching and Workforce Lead

Chris has been part of EHA since August 2022, having initially joined as a programme support officer, Chris is now the Coaching and Workforce lead for EHA.

In this role, Chris manages and oversees EHA’s delivery of coaching and refereeing courses. Chris also manages the delivery of handball courses for schools, colleges and universities who are looking for CPD for their staff and/or courses for their staff and students.
Chris is also the best person to contact for certificates and queries around the administrative processes regarding course bookings, member profiles and credentials.
Outside Handball, Chris has a keen interest in Cricket, Rugby and American Football.

Liz Roberts

Talent Pathway Manager

  • Liz has been working within England Handball since 2014 covering a multitude of roles across Competitions, Performance and Coaching Workforce.

    The new year sees Liz move solely over to Performance as the Talent pathway manager where she will cover all things administration across the performance academies and the first point of contact for information relating to:

  • Elite Performance Academy – Full time Loughborough
  • DiSE – Diploma in Sporting Excellence,
  • National Academy,
  • Regional Academies

Angela Deakin

Membership Manager

Angela joined England Handball in 2014, and is now Membership Services Manager. In this role, Angela manages the EHA memberships, providing high quality support to clubs and members across the operation of all memberships, registrations, and player transfers.
