Great Britain U20 Women’s Squad Ready to Take on InterContinental Trophy in Uzbekistan 

The anticipation is mounting as England Handball’s U20 Women’s squad prepares to embark on their next challenge at the Women’s Junior InterContinental Trophy in Uzbekistan. Following their triumphant victory at the Junior IHF Trophy last October, where they emerged as champions, the team is eager to showcase their skills once again on the international stage. 

Scheduled to take place from February 28th to March 3rd, 2024, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, the competition will see the England Handball squad facing off against opponents from across the globe. Having qualified from Europe, the team will go head-to-head against teams from Africa, Asia, Oceania, South & Central America, and North America & the Caribbean. 

The Great Britain U20 Women’s squad, led by Head Coach Mark Hawkins, is brimming with confidence as they prepare to face their rivals. The team consists of talented athletes who have honed their skills through dedication and hard work.

  • Heidi Warren (Pivot + Vice-Captain) 
  • Anna Rayner (Playmaker) 
  • Katherine Kesselring (Playmaker)

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Head Coach Mark Hawkins expressed his confidence in the team’s abilities, stating, “I think first of all it’s amazing for the team to have earned this opportunity to compete amongst these teams and to play all these different styles of handball. First objective is that we qualify out of the group and get into the semifinals, from there it’s always dependent on who plays best on the day so hoping we can put ourselves into that situation.” 

As the British Handball U20 Women’s squad gears up for the challenge that lies ahead, they carry with them the hopes and expectations of handball fans across the country. With their talent, determination, and teamwork, they are ready to make their mark on the international stage once again.
