England Handball Association to host ‘biggest and best ever’ National Finals weekend

Organisers are expecting this year’s England Handball National Finals season pinnacle to be the biggest and best ever.

The season finale, weekend-long event is set to take place on June 10 and 11, when hundreds of players, staff and spectators will turn out at Nottingham University’s Sir David Ross Sports Centre.

This year’s finals, the main event in the national handball calendar, comes as the popularity of handball in England continues to grow.

Across the two-day event, the best teams across the country will lock horns to compete for the National Cup, with both the Men’s and Women’s finals taking place, and both matches set to be streamed live across England Handball’s social media channels.

The matches include Olympia Women, fresh from their Premier League Final 4 victory last month, facing off against West London Eagles. In the Men’s Final, Eagles play NEM Hawks, who themselves won the Men’s Premier League Final 4.

Also taking place will be the finals of the Under 19s and Under 16s categories, as well as the National Schools Competitions, which this year has been the most competitive yet.

Mike Bain, CEO of England Handball, said: “Last year’s finals weekend was incredible, and I’m convinced that this year will be our biggest and best yet.

“The atmosphere created by players and fans is always superb, and I’m expecting this year to be no different.

“Hundreds of teams from all over the country have competed during a long season, with only the very best to feature. And showcasing everything from those starting out on their handball journey to some of the best the country has to offer, this will be an exciting weekend of action that lives long in the memory.”

The event will be open to the public to attend, free of charge. No tickets will be required.

The finals will all be held under one roof at the David Ross Sports Village, in partnership with the University of Nottingham.

The weekend will start with Under-16 finals on the morning of Saturday, June 10, before the Under-19s finals that afternoon.

The Men’s and Women’s National Cup Finals will be on the afternoon of June 11, with the National Schools Finals taking place in both the morning and afternoon across both days.
